Making sure your equipment is in good repair

There are several things that must be done to ensure that your manufacturing company runs smoothly and efficiently. Making sure employees are working productively, along with continuously looking for ways to increase efficiency and lower costs are just two of the things you must do on a daily basis. You also need to make sure that your equipment is running properly and in good repair. It is important to keep your manufacturing equipment in tip-top shape because without that equipment you would not have a business. And if equipment is not running properly, it is not as efficient, which only costs your company money. Here are some tips to help you keep your manufacturing equipment in good repair:
1. Make sure that regular maintenance is performed on your equipment. Regular maintenance may be different for every machine. Check your owner's manual to find out what is recommended. If you are leasing the equipment, check with the leasing company to find out what is required. You may find the information in the brochure that leasing company should have given you. Performing regular maintenance can help you to avoid major problems that can be costly before they happen. For example your equipment may have a small leak that you are not aware of. By scheduling regular maintenance there is a good chance that the leak will be found before it becomes larger and causes serious damage to the machine.

2. At all times keep your manufacturing equipment as clean as possible. Your equipment will last longer by keeping it free of debris. It is also safer to keep equipment clear of any garbage and/or debris.
3. Be sure to test your manufacturing equipment on a regular basis to ensure it is working properly. It is best to keep a record of when tests were performed, along with performance results. This will help in scheduling future tests and will also make it possible for you to compare the equipment's performance results to determine if there is a decline in performance from when the last test was done.
4. Make sure that your manufacturing equipment is not doing more than what is recommended. The owner's manual should have this kind of information such as weight limitations, capacity amounts, and speed limits. Your equipment will not function properly and as productively if it is being used over what is recommended. It is important to operate your equipment according to the guidelines in the owners manual, if you want to keep it in good working order. Keep in mind, if there is a warranty on the equipment and you do not follow the recommended guidelines, it may result in the warranty not being honored.
5. If your equipment has a broken part or is not performing right, do not continue to use it until it has been properly fixed. If you continue to use equipment that is not in proper working order it can very dangerous to your employee's and it is also hard on the equipment. Your equipment may not be able to be repaired, if you wait to long to have it fixed. Make sure to have your manufacturing equipment repaired as soon as a problem is detected. Do not allow equipment to be fixed improperly and do not allow someone that is not qualified to repair the machine.

Always keep your manufacturing equipment in good repair because it is very costly to replace. And without proper repair and maintenance equipment will have to be replaced more often than if you were to keep it in proper repair and good working condition. It is vital to the success of your company.
