How to find someone to finance your business

It can be very discouraging to have a great business idea and not have the capital to get it going. Capital here means the money required to get your business off the ground. Let's say, for example, that you've come up with a new kind of weed killer that is by far the most effective weed killer in the history of the world. Now, you could sell it door to door, and you could try to get lawn care businesses look at your product, etc., and build up capital that way; but perhaps you're no good at face-to-face sales; or perhaps you just haven't enough time; you want to build a business the right way, from the ground up, with a solid foundation, and you don't have the personal finances to support it. That's where getting business financing comes in. Let's consider a few factors about finding someone to finance your business.

  1. When you approach someone about financing your business, they're going to want to look at your credit history. Now, you may be thinking, "No problem, I've got a great credit history"; but it's not your personal credit history that we're talking about. No, sometimes, believe it or not, you must actually build up your business's credit before you even have a business worth the name! Never fear, however; there are plenty of ways to begin building business credit, which leads us to out next point.
  2. Business financing is convenient for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is that you're not investing your own funds to get started. Even if you have the funds, you'll want to keep them in savings, if you can, and try to strictly separate your business finances from your personal finances. It's always nice to have a next egg in store like that at the very least. When someone finances your business, you've got this supply of cash that's come out of the blue as it were. You don't have to touch what's already yours.
  3. Considering the value of finding someone to finance your business, you'll need to become handy with the Internet. Chances are you already know how to use a search engine, but just in case you don't, let's quickly go through the steps. A search engine is a website that allows you to search for particular things. Google, Yahoo-these are example of search engines. To learn about finding someone to finance your business, try going to Google and typing "how to finance my business" or something similar. Instantly, thousands of pages will pop up. Each of these pages wants you to click on it. The first sites that appear aren't a bad place to start. Usually, the sites are ranked according to how much traffic they receive.
  4. Many of these sites have a similar message to convey, which boils down to: there are lots of different foundations, government agencies, etc., which are ready to help you finance your business, and the question is simply finding the right one. People want to see other businesses get going, and get successful; governments want their citizens to be innovative and help pick up the pace of the economy. There are literally thousands of programs in place to help you find someone to finance your business. Again, this will take some research on your part, and it may take a while to find the right fit for financing your business. Once you've found that fit, you'll want to see what requirements you're facing (how you present your business plan, what kind of credit, if any, you'll need, etc.), and get to work meeting those requirements.
