Many business owners seek out angel investors, after exhausting their own resources and that of family and friends. However, the main question is where to find an angel investor. The good news is that there are several possible sources of angel investor. While it will take time and patience to comb through the possibility, if you are able to secure angel investment money, it can be highly beneficial, for your business. Here is what you need to know about where to find an angel investor-

  • Local Chamber of Commerce-This can be a very valuable source of information, for where to find angel investors. Many times, this is the place that will have information and contact information, about angel investors in your area, or even venture capital firms (many times angel investors work through them). Because of their very nature Chamber of Commerce can provide a great deal of information that is especially suited, to smaller businesses.
  • Business incubators in your area-Your Chamber of Commerce or even local university, can tell you if there are any business incubators in the location of your business. Most business incubators have contact information and even direct access, to angel investors. The reason for this is that they are set up to help the companies within their incubators, attract potential investors. If you find out that you have a business incubator in your area, you should contact them immediately and make an appointment to discuss angel financing. They can be instrumental in helping you attract the attention of an angel investor, for your business.
  • Talk with other business owners-Many times business owners believe that everyone is out for themselves. This is not necessarily true. Contacting other business owners in your area, can be a great way to gain information about angel investors in your area. Do not assume that your fellow business owners won't be willing to help you out.
  • Colleges or universities in your location-This can be a great source for finding an angel investor. Many angel investors work with local colleges in their business management programs.
