Here are the top five things you need to know about TQM. Total Quality Management is the process of working the processes in your company with total time efficiency. It is a more efficient way of managing your business, with a focus on process improvement at each level of the company.

There are some very important things you will want to know about TQM in order for your company to get the most out of it. Here are those top five things that will help get it all going.

The TQM plan has four main functioning areas. They are as follows.

1. Design- this is the thought that is a preliminary plan that will form into a finished idea, plan or process.
2. Workmanship-this is the quality or mode of execution of the plan for the process.
3. Equipment-this is anything kept that has a specific use or purpose, tools, supplies, etc that is used for the completion of a project.
4. Raw materials-this is the materials that will be used to produce something.

Each of these functioning areas is a base portion of the main structure. This is what creates the total process of TQM. When you look at the process, you have to see that each of these areas must be covered in order to be able to get the most from the entire process.

It is imperative for the TQM plan to work to its full potential that each of these functioning areas of the TQM plan to work smoothly. That is what takes work and time. Generally as people we do not work together with our environment, and equipment to be a basic smooth flow. There are things, times, activities etc that seem to get into the way.

That is why there needs to be tracking, goals, training and follow up that is consistently completed to keep things in line as the process changes, and afterwards.

Be aware that TQM is not something that will just happen over night. There will need to be a great deal of commitment and effort. Each layer of the company employees, from the owners, down to the standard production line worker need to be dedicated to making it all work.

You will need to be aware of specific costs that the company will have in this time of transition. There will be costs for training, cost for the supplies and service and finally the time it will take to train and transition everyone to the new way of thinking.

These are the sacrifices you must be willing to give in order to receive the benefit of the TQM success.

1. Kaizen, you can see that this is improvement that functions continuously.
2. Ataimae Hinshitsu, then there is where everything involved in the process will work the way it will need to.
3. Kansei, next is where the use of a product will work in the correct way for the result to come about.
4. Miryokuteki Hinshitu, and last but not least this is where the product will need to have the aesthetic quality needed.

Overall the process of TQM is a successful management process that can work wonders in your company. These are the to five things you need to know about TQM. Keep in mind that this is not just a fad; it is a process that has worked for years and is here to stay.
