Every manufacturing company is always looking for a better way to do things, which is where total quality management comes into play. As a manufacturing your goal is to manufacture quality items, meaning items that are free from defects. But something else that you want to do is to manufacture items with as little waste as possible. And the good news is that through the use of TQM you can accomplish these things and be on your way to better manufacturing.

Here are the steps you should take to use TQM for better manufacturing.

Step one:
The first thing that you are going to need to do use tqm to increase manufacturing efficiency is you are going to need to start training people. Basically this training is going to need to be started at the top so that they can pass down the information. Basically what is supposed to happen is that the people who are trained in the beginning are going to be the ones who are supposed to be training everyone else.

Step two:
The first thing that you are going to need to teach your potential trainees is the recognition of customer needs. Here you are going to need to teach them how to teach other employees to realize what it is the customer needs and wants from the manufacturing process. It is up to your company to meet these individual needs so that you can keep the customer happy and everybody knows that happy customers always come back.

Step three:
The next thing that you are going to need to do is to train your trainees about the four main steps that are going to be required to implement the TQM process. Without knowing these steps or what their purpose is your company is not going to be able to implement TQM, which means you won't be able to improve your manufacturing efficiency through the TQM process.

Step four:
The first step that your company is going to need to take to implement TQM is kaizen. Kaizen is actually the focus on continuous improvement. So what you are going to want to talk about is ways that your company can improve in all areas and how you can spot what areas need to be improved.

Step five:
The next step is called atarimae hinshitsu. This is where each thing will work the way it is designed to work. What this is basically saying is that when training or teaching people about this step you are aiming for getting all of the processes to work exactly how they are supposed to work so that your efficiency is at top level.

Step six:
The third step is called kansei. Kansei is basically teaching you that when used, the use of that product will provide a way for improvement to come about.

Step seven:
The fourth step is called miryokuteki hinshitu. Basically what this step is teaching you is that each product needs to have an aesthetic quality.

Step eight:
The next thing that you are going to need to do is to develop one or two methods that your company can use for the total process of improvement. Basically what you are doing here is figuring out things that your company can do in various departments to improve your overall company.

Step nine:
The next thing that you are going to need to focus on when using TQM to improve your manufacturing efficiency is that you are going to need to generate a quality plan in addition to a total process of improvement.

Step ten:
The last thing that you are going to need to do is to find the way to identify guidelines in order to develop the right training. Basically what you need to do here is take a look at your company and your employees to find out what they are going to need for individualized training.
