Branding your company and its products

Creating a recognizable brand can help a business achieve success because customers will instantly identify their products. Having a solid brand will make your business more attractive to advertisers that want to pay you in exchange for an ad on your site or on the bottom of print media campaigns.

There are several things that help to brand a company. Of course the most commonly known are partnerships, advertising campaigns, and successful products. Not every business will achieve the brand awareness as the larger companies like McDonalds and Nike, but they can brand themselves in their own niche market.

Successful branding will occur with organization and consistency. When customers go to your web site, they need to be able to easily navigate it and find exactly what they are looking for in a matter of seconds. Consistency must remain on the web site along with other areas like your advertising campaigns. Using a catchy slogan is a great way to build consistency and to improve your brand identity.

Develop a brand that is known online and offline. This is a great way to increase your customer-base. You can have customers that prefer to come into a physical location to purchase products or you have customers that like to order them online and have them shipped directly to their homes. No matter which type of customer you are dealing with, they both need to receive the same customer service. Paying attention to their browsing habits can help you create a shopping cart that reminds them of a few of the products they viewed and it gives them a last chance to purchase it before they leave the site.

This same philosophy applies when you are dealing with customers in your store. However, you can pitch promotional products to them like a discount near the register. This is a great way to clear out some old inventory and build strong relationships with the customers.

A large part of brand awareness comes from your logo. This is used to represent the company when you are not around so it is important that the logo speaks for itself. Use the logo in place of pictures on social media sites so your customers can quickly find your account. The logo is one of the main things that makes your company stand out from your competitors. It needs to be memorable to the point that a person can define what the company is about just by seeing the logo.

Branding also comes down to the name you give your domain and your user names on other accounts. People must be able to quickly find your company online. It is always easiest to use your business name but if it is too large consider shortening it or opt for a keyword name like adding "candy" or "sweet" to the URL if you sell candies. It is hard to get a unique URL since there are millions of web sites out there so it may require some creativity on your part.

A great deal of branding comes with customer feedback. Use local media contacts to help you get your name out there so you can hear what people are saying about your company. Gaining media attention is one of the best ways to help brand your company. If you cannot gain media attention, try other ways to gain exposure which can come from newspaper advertising, radio ads, and TV commercials.

Branding your business is hard, but it can be done through dedication and a good customer service department. Even if customers are not completely satisfied with your products, you must have a good customer service department available that can help and turn a negative situation into a positive one.
