Many people who are selling products or even services dream about being featured on the Oprah Winfrey show, or something similar. The main reason that so many people want to go on Oprah is how popular the Oprah Winfrey show is, millions of people watch her show every day. Not to mention that the people who watch her show also support and purchase most products or services that she features on her shows. It has been shown that businesses that are featured on the Oprah show are more successful and have a greater chance of becoming successful than business that are not featured on her show.

While you can get your business featured on the Oprah show through great marketing the biggest challenge that you will face is actually getting on her show. The reason for this is that so many businesses out there want to be on her show so they can be successful. The competition is fierce, so you will have to have some great marketing to get on her show. Here are the steps you will need to follow if you want to try to get on the Oprah show.

Step one:

Prepare yourself for being on the Oprah show, which includes preparing your business as well. To do this you will need to watch the Oprah show for yourself so that you can get an idea of what is going to be hot on the Oprah show the next few months. This will also allow you to get familiar with the different producers, and the types of segments they are responsible for. If you don't currently watch the Oprah show on a daily basis, what you are going to need to do is to tape the show for about four weeks, then sit down, and watch all of the episodes at once so you know what to watch.

Step two:

You will need to figure out which producer you need to send your information to. When figuring out which producer to use you will also want to determine why you want to use that producer. Do not send the information yet, all you want to do is prepare the information for sending.

Step three:

You will want to come up with a topic that is considered "hot" to pitch to the producers. You want to avoid mentioning your product or services no matter how tempting it is when you are coming up with a topic for the show. What you need to do is come up with a topic that is considered news worthy so you can catch the attention of Oprah's audience. When pitching the topic you only want to focus on the information that is relevant to that topic so you can prove that you are an expert on the topic.

Step four:

Put together a winning press package to send in with the hot topic that you are pitching. What you are going to want to do is to send in an article about your product along with a pitch or angle page with two or three different ideas. You are also going to want to include a paragraph or two about why you are an expert on the pitch you are proposing. Keep in mind that you only want this package to be one page, so keep it brief and to the point.

Step five:

Make sure that you look at Oprah's website. This website will give you plenty of information about how to get on the show and what you are going to need to do or have to get on the show. The website will also allow you to send an email directly to her producers. If you want a quick response, make sure your topic is only about a paragraph long.

Step six:

You are also going to want to create six dynamic sound bites. What these sound bites are going to do is to show the producers that you would make a viable guest for the show. Something to keep in mind when creating the sound bites is that they are the messages that you are trying to convey. You are going to want to record the most important ideas, concepts, and points of your topic as they relate to the idea that you are pitching.

Step seven:

Before you even approach the Oprah show what you are going to want to do is get booked on your local talk shows and news shows first. This will help you prepare yourself for being on national television, not to mention it will give you a chance to get some good sound bites.
