You should consider the following factors when developing a social media strategy. These factors are-
1. Is your target market online? While most demographic groups are online, not all are. You want to make sure that the people you are trying to reach online, will really be there.
2. Can you handle the negative that will come up?An essential part of social media networking is the free exchange of ideas. This means that you will have to allow for negative comments that will be express. Some business cultures simply are not ready to do that.

You need to be prepared to develop a social media strategy and then give it some time to work. If you are looking for instant results, this type of marketing is not for you.
6. How much flexibility do you have when it comes to using social media? This can be a trail and error project, so you need to be willing to take risks, adjust your strategy and even experiment, before you find the optimal social media mix.
While it may be easier to just market the traditional method, you could be losing the opportunity to reach a large segment of your target market that is not receiving your marketing offline. It is crucial to take the time to educate yourself on the options that are available, for your social media strategy, so that you can pick the ones that will build your business most effectively.
