How to break into new niches with marketing
Brainstorm-think about what groups use your products and then try to break those groups into subgroups.Every one of those subgroups is a niche that you can market to.For example, if you are marketing vitamins, think about who might take your vitamins.Maybe the vitamins feature sports supplements like glucosimine and or Omega 6 fatty acids.A likely group focus on is athletes. Now think about the different groups of athletes. You might come up with things like, marathoners, tri-athletes, and rock-climbers.Spend some time brainstorming and you will be able to come up with very specific groups to focus your energy on.
Sponsor an event-a classic way of breaking into a new niche is by sponsoring an event. If it is runners that you want to market to, sponsor a race. Similarly, if you want to reach dog lovers, you can sponsor a pet adoption, pet show, or some other pet event.Putting some money into a small group or a niche is a great way to get the name of your product into the minds of the people you want to market to.If you sponsor an event like a race where they give out t-shirts with the sponsor's names on them that advertising will last a long long time.I am still wearing race shirts from races 10 years ago.Talk about long-term advertising! Talk to everybody-once you have decided on a niche that you want to focus on, start talking.Get involved in that world, at least on a local level and let everybody who will listen know that you have a product suited especially for them.If it is born-again Christians that you are focused on, get to church and spread the news.If it is new mothers, hang out in the baby isles. The more people that you can contact the better. You want to get the word out and then you want the people you tell to tell more people.Make contact with as many people in that particular group as you possibly can.If you want to break into a niche, the people in that niche have to hear your message and learn that you exist. |
