The reason is that a consumer will give the information they read a split second to catch their attention. If you are not the one who has a snazzy eye catching headline, your ad will likely be missed.

There are some things you can do in order to choose a better headline for your marketing ad. Try a few of these ideas to see if they help you in your adventures of marketing.

Short and sweet

The headline for your marketing ad needs to be short and sweet. Like mentioned before, it has to be something that a person scanning the ads, can see what you want fast. The headline should be to the point and refer to the product, business or service you are trying to market. The headline should be 10 words or less.

Get their attention

Ok, here is the tricky part. How are you going to get their attention in 10 words or less?

- Take a minute to think about these different headlines and see what gets your attention.

With each of these different headlines, most of us will remember something. The reason is that these headlines were significantly simple, yet attractive to our way of thinking. That is what you will want your headline to do. Get the attention of the reader in ten words or less.

Make an impact that is accurate

There are funny puns, serious statements, and interesting facts that can be put into your headline. The main thing though, is that the information needs to be accurate, and correctly stated. If the information is spelled wrong, then you will find that people miss the point you are trying to make.

Use a headline that works for your product, service etc. If you are marketing stamina enhancements for men, you will not want to put puny, or tiny, or insignificant in the headline.

Capitalize the right letters

There should only be capitalizing letters at the beginning of the headline, the beginning of a sentence and only for proper nouns.

Numbers in a headline

If you are putting any kind of numbers in your headline, then if the numbers are at the beginning of the sentence or if it is under the number 10 then do not spell it out.

Third Person

Write in third person, this will make the headline more attractive to the reader.

Active voice

Using an active voice will create a higher level of attention. This would also include a good sentence structure, present tense verbs, and logical sentence structures.

Punctuation

The right punctuation for your headline is important. You will not want to over punctuate as it can take from the overall point of the headline. The best way to punctuate is accurate standard punctuation.

Avoid splitting

Try very hard not to split up the verb pieces between lines. Also, try not to end your lines with prepositions.

Grammar
