How to increase your customer base while keeping existing customers happy

One of the keys to a successful business is increasing our customer base while keeping our existing customers happy. This sounds obvious enough, but it's a little more complicated in practice. The reason for this is that it's hard maintain both the focus required to keep existing customers happiness and the focus required for increasing our customer base. This difficulty is always present, whether our company is in its infancy or teens or productive middle age. Let's explore in more detail some ideas for increasing our customer base while keeping existing customers happy.

- First of all, if we have to choose which area to put more energy into, it's going to be keeping existing customers happy. Therefore, keeping existing customers happy should always be a company's top priority. Top priority in this case doesn't mean let other areas slide. It simply means that keeping existing customers happy should always be on the forefront of our minds, knowing that having a solid core of customers around which to build is hugely important to our stability and success

- It will help, then, to focus on the fundamentals of keeping existing customers happy. If we can do A, B, and C consistently, we're more than likely to keep existing customers happy. Therefore, if A, B, and C become habitual as it were for our company, things that almost run on their own power, we'll be in much better shape to focus more of our energies on increasing our customer base.
- What are the ABC's of keeping existing customers happy? Let's say they're communication, an improving product, and an increasingly convenient delivery system. That means we've got to build methods for all three areas that can be incorporated into our company's lifestyle until they're running on their own power as it were.
- If communication keeps our existing customers happy, let's say we develop an online program that allows customers to talk directly to us about their experience with our product. But it's not enough that they can talk directly to us, they also have to know somehow that we're hearing them. The beauty of this is that it allows us to keep customers abreast of how we're improving our product simultaneously, and also get hints and ideas from our customers for doing just that. Finally, an increasingly convenient delivery system will also depend in large part on hearing back from our customers and having this crucial dialogue. When this crucial dialogue is really going, it leaves us with enough time and to spare on increasing our customer base.
- Increasing our customer base will result from effective marketing. Not only will we want to increase our customer base by effectively marketing what it is we're offering, we'll want to market the ABC's discussed briefly above. That is, we'll want to market our product, and market as well how finely we treat those who choose to purchase our product. It is not so much a matter of chest-thumping as it is of saying, Look, you mean enough to us that we've opened these ways of communication in order to continually improve our product and make your way of receiving it more convenient all the time.
- We see from this that increasing our customer base while keeping existing customers happy ideally goes hand in hand. We start by focusing on keeping existing customers happy, make a system of it, and then advertise that system along with our product when expanding our customer base. It's a matter of building from our core outwards, and when done correctly this method can't fail to achieve impressive results.
