Every business owner regardless of the type or size of business they are running is always looking to find ways to save money. Successful business owners know that the key to long term success is cost control. This is no different when it comes to the marketing function of your business. However, most business owners feel that they don't have enough money when it comes to their marketing budget. This can often leave many business owners wondering if they can even market effectively.

There is no getting around the fact that marketing is crucial to any business. Keep in mind that if your customers don't know where to find you or what your business can offer them there is little chance that they will buy from you. This means that soon you may find that your business is quietly fading away. It is crucial that you are able to find ways to market your business effectively for the least possible money. The good news is that there are plenty of different ways that you can do this. You will just need to use some creativity and be willing to think outside of the box. Here is what you need to know about how to market your business in the most cost effective way possible-
- Consider teaming up with another business-This type of marketing is known as co-op marketing. Many times businesses will work together on a marketing method that neither business could afford on their own. However, it is important to keep in mind that co-op marketing does not have to be complicated or expensive. Sometimes you can achieve additional marketing by offering to put another business' information in your outgoing mail provided that they do the same for you. You can also host events together, work on community efforts together, or pool your resources to afford expensive print or TV marketing. There is virtually no limit as to how co-op marketing can work effectively and save each business that is involved a lot of money.
- Host a special event-Another great way to market for very little money is to host a special event. You can open your doors and allow your customers to come in and really get to know your business. The key to being successful with this type of marketing is to offer your customers something of value that draws them into your business. Whether you are hosting a food drive, offering a class or seminar, or putting on a fashion show you must be able to appeal to something that will interest your customers. The good news is that there are many different resources that will allow you to host a special event without having to pay for more then the marketing to advertise it. You can even have an employee (or yourself), provide the demonstration or class which saves you more money on marketing. Just be sure to have a way to capture the contact information of everyone who attends so you can follow up with more marketing after the event.
- Get online-There is perhaps no better way to save money on marketing then by getting an online presence. There are many different ways to get your business on the internet and expand your marketing reach. However, before you proceed with this type of marketing it is crucial to know if your customers will be online. It will only be a waste of time and effort if you are not reaching the people that you need to. Once you know that you can reach your target market online then it is crucial to set up a website. You can then later add a business blog, utilize social media networking and expand into mobile marketing all for every little or even no money at all.
