How to use Second Life to build positioning and sell product

Second life is an online virtual world where members can set up a life, in which they can explore, create relationships, and develop socially the more times they return. Game players are referred to as "residents" and they can buy and sell and live in a free market just as they could in the United States. The virtual money traded is US dollars. Although many refer to Second Life as a game, it really is not as it has no winners or losers. It is simply an online meeting spot where people can live a virtual reality. In October 2006 there were one million registered users, and in December 2006 there were two million registered users. At any given time there are ten to twenty thousand people living a virtual life on Second Life. (For additional facts and those stated above please see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Life).

Out of curiosity for this virtual world that seems to be attracting people by thousands I opened an account and stepped into a world where I could make and create a world of my own. I was amazed at how life like everything was and at the potential for creating an astounding new life for yourself. I could see why it is attracting people daily by the thousands.

Very much like my curiosity brought me to register and make a name for myself with second life, so has the curiosity of millions of others. My curiosity helped me to quickly see that in this virtual world there are a great many possible benefits for using Second Life as a business tool.

In this virtual world where life is (much as it is here) what you make of it, you will meet and come across thousands of new people as you enter Second Life each time. Just as you can set up a business in this life, in reality, you can also in appropriately named - Second Life. This means if you are trying to start a new coffee shop in this life, you can set up that shop in your virtual life as well. As you trade virtual money with your virtual customers you can have other second life players walk away with your product, with your symbol on the food and drink in their hands.

Much as this is direct advertising in real life, it is also in your virtual life. As you continue to play the game and move forward in your virtual life you can progress your shop from one shop into many. Like wise you can begin to display your logo on t-shirts, hats, and other paraphernalia your virtual customers will find in your coffee shop. In this way you will be advertising your real company in a very virtual world and begin to gain some recognition, first in the virtual world, but then as you grown in reality as well.

Once you have established a name for yourself in the virtual world and begun to gain recognition in the real world, then you can use the virtual world to begin to lead buyers to your product. You can post up a web site where potential customers in real life can find and purchase your product. You can advertise this web site through your virtual world posting signs on your shops, the web address on t-shirts, and other virtually (no pun intended) free advertisements that you would other wise be paying to have posted in the real world.

Second Life is already being discussed as a huge upcoming business opportunity for millions of people. Some believe that certain companies will allow you to make purchases in their real life shops that will then earn you virtual dollars to put towards your Second Life game. As the potential for this market grows now is the time to set up your virtual business, position yourself in this virtual world, and begin advertising your product through the means of Second Life.
