Network

cables19108619.jpgSocial media and networking is huge, but it all started with a simple idea, that idea is tell your friends. It is important that when you develop your marketing strategy that you do not discount the power of networking, or telling your friends. You never know when one of your friends will run into one of their friends, who will then become your next big client.

Whenever you have a business, whether it is service or product oriented, you should make a point of talking about that business daily. Whether you strike up a conversation in the line at the DMV, or mention it in passing as you talk to a friend over the phone. One of the best things you can do for your business is let people know it exists, and what better place to start than with your friends, family, neighbors, and associates? The people you already know, work with, talk to, socialize with, etc. should be the ones who first know about what it is you have to offer.

Next, make sure that your friends know it is okay to talk about you. A simple phrase like, "If you ever hear of anyone in need of. send them my way." Can go a long way in finding you new customers and clients. Friends love recommending friends, but may not even think to do so. Make sure that you are not overlooked because they forget. Instead, make a point of keeping yourself in the forefront of your friends thoughts so that when they do hear of a need you can fill, they can immediately recommend you.

Use the resources available to you to network. The Internet is full of opportunities for networking, so take advantage of them. You can use Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, and a number of other sites to get your name and specialty out there, and help people become aware of who you are, and what you have to give. These sites are free, they only require your time, so if you need an effective, and low cost marketing strategy, networking, including Internet networking is a great choice. Set up your accounts, and be vigilant about ensuring that you update them daily, and keep information on them so that people can see you in their news feeds, and will know you exist. If you set them up and never use them again, it will have been a total waste of your time, and you will never see the kinds of results you can get from networking.

Networking is a powerful marketing tool, and one that will go a long way in helping your business succeed. Often it is the people in our circles that want the same things we want. So, don't overlook potential customers and clients just because they are friends and family, often they are the best customers you will ever have.
