What you need to do about your email newsletters

manrelaxingatdesk30846571.jpgEmail is a wonderful way to connect with your customers. Many companies turn to emails newsletters for new product launches and product promotions. Email newsletters provide you with a chance to build better relationships with your customers as you will be able to keep them in the loop with your business. Email newsletters will only be able to work if you are actually sending out the emails and responding to them in a timely manner.

When a person decides to sign up for email newsletters, it is an indication that you have been able to create a great relationship with your customers and that you continue to peak their interest. People that subscribe to your newsletter want to keep in the loop and if you provide them with quality information, you will soon find that you have better relationships with your customers. Part of sending out email newsletters is to show your customers that you can meet their expectations.

So what should you be doing with your email newsletters in order to gain the attention you need from your customers? Most companies start with a welcome email, which is a nice way to show your customers you appreciate them signing up for the newsletter. Just make sure you are taking your sign up to a new level and that you aren't just keeping it fluffy. You want the initial email newsletter to make a quick first impression and then jump right into the credible information your customers are seeking. Always put a link where your customers can view your archive if they want to research some of your previous email newsletters.

Take a look at how many email newsletters you are sending each week. Some companies send out daily emails, especially news media companies as their home page changes daily. Depending upon what you are promoting and what you are including in the email, you need to make sure the communication is appropriate and that your customers are actually responding to it.

Make sure the emails have valuable information. If your customers are not interested in what the email has to say, they will opt out of your mailing list. Don't be offended if your customers ask to opt out of the email newsletters. Some customers really don't like to gave their inbox filled with emails so it can be unfortunate for you to get cut out of their inbox, but it's not a complete disaster. Learn from the customers that leave and pinpoint what happened to make them turn off your emails. Just because they don't want to have any part of your email newsletter doesn't mean they don't want to have anything to do with your business at all.

Here are some things you need to include in your email newsletter:
1. Correct links. Always double check your links in the email to make sure they are actually working. Sometimes you can rush to meet the deadline for the email template that you forget to include a letter or a hash tag which can lead your customers to a completely different place.
2. Opt out information. Always include the unsubscribe note on your email newsletters in order to allow your customers to stop receiving the email. Send an automatic confirmation message that acknowledges that they have opted out of your email newsletter. Even though you are saying goodbye to your customers, you still want to make that last final impression meaningful.
3. Provide valuable information. An email newsletter should only be sent if you have good information for your customers. When you are sending email newsletters just to send them, it's not going to get you very far with the relationship building process you are focusing on with your customers.
