Best MySpace backgrounds for your business

When people think about MySpace they often think of teenagers and young adults chatting away, posting numerous surveys, leaving funny comments, posting blogs or bulletins about nothing in particular, etc. But what many people don't see is the businesses that are starting to use MySpace. Many reputable businesses have created MySpace profiles just to "keep up" with the younger generation. After all it is this generation that has the most disposable income so most businesses target them for advertising.

Many MySpace layouts are flashy and eye catching; this is designed to attract attention. Businesses who have created MySpace profiles need to attract as much attention as they can for successful advertising. It seems the flashier and bolder your MySpace profile is the more it is talked about. You do not seem to hear anything about companies who advertise on MySpace but just keep their layouts and backgrounds simple.

Backgrounds on MySpace are offered from a variety of websites. You can get them for free or you can upload your own images to use. As a business you want to remain competitive with the other businesses out there, but you still want to remain professional

Businesses want to use the best backgrounds and layouts possible when they are designing their MySpace page, but there is no such thing as the best background. When it comes to choosing the best background for your business you need to do what is right for your company not what other people are doing. All you can do as a business is to follow some basic guidelines in helping you choose which background will work the best for your company.

Guideline one:
Remember your background is not going to be the dominant image on your profile. MySpace profiles have numerous boxes all over the page that will cover your background. You can readjust your layout to get rid of boxes, but things will always be on top of your background.

Guideline two:
Choose images, patterns or solid colors that are going to compliment your text. All too often you see dark backgrounds with dark text written upon it or the opposite. The key here is trying to get people to visit your page, if people can not read what you have to say then they will not visit your page.

Guideline three:
Do not use backgrounds that have falling objects. This can cause distractions for your viewers. It may look really nice, but if you have light text on a dark background with falling snow that snow will cross the words at some point making it hard to read. Also, have you ever tried to read a page with constant movement in the background?

Guideline four:
Do not choose a background that is going cause a long delay in loading your page. Remember different users use different connection speeds. If your page takes twenty minutes to load you are going to lose users who are on slower connections, as well as some of the users who grow impatient on faster connections.

Guideline five:
When you change your background make sure you change your layout. Your background and layout go hand in hand. When you change your background you need to change the general layout so that you can enhance the background. For example say you choose to go with a dark background from a light background. If you had dark font previously you now need to change that font to a lighter color otherwise it will get lost on the page.

Guideline six:
Most of all keep everything simple. Do not overload your page with hundreds of graphics or images. All this does is serve to clutter up your MySpace profile and increases the amount of time your page takes to load. You can use a variety of features, but just remember that there is such thing as overkill.

When choosing a MySpace background, you also want to think of the general layout of your page. Following a few simple guidelines will help you choose the best background for your company.
