Displaying customer service info on your website

Many companies have websites for their customers to access for all sorts of purposes. Through the internet customers can purchase products, access live help, technical support, track orders, solve problems, research what your company has to offer, and most important of all obtain customer service.

When you are displaying customer service information on your website you want to make sure your customers can find it. You do not want this feature in the fine print, nor do you want it hidden in the numerous volume of information on your page. By having it where your customers can easily find it you are providing them with a great service.

When you are designing your website you want to take into consideration where you are going to display your customer service information. Many websites include a toll free number, an email address, a physical address, and sometimes a live chat. An entire section of your website should be devoted to customer service, but this sometimes depends on how big your company is.

Toll Free Number:
This number should be displayed in numerous places on your website. You can usually find this number located on the front page near the bottom of the page, with the caption "Customer Service". If you provide a section devoted to customer service this information should be located at the top of the section. This number should be easily accessible to your customers, in case they need to call and speak to an operator.

Email address:
This information is usually displayed under the help section of your website at the top. When the email address is entered onto the page the customer can click on the link and send an email from your website rather than having to write down the email address for future use. Companies will also display this information under the "contact us" section, or in the "about us" section. These are great places to display this information because they are easily accessible by the consumer.

Physical address:
This is usually displayed under the "about us" or the "contact us" section of a website. Some companies also display this information on the front page of their website under the name of the company or at the bottom of the page. This information is not used as frequently by customers, so having it easily accessed is not as important as other customer service information. But this is important to include in case the consumer wants to send in a request for more information. Customers may also use your business address to ensure they are looking at the right company when looking you up on the Better Business Bureaus website.

Live Chat:
This information is usually accessed from the "help" section or "contact us" section of a website. It can be displayed with the customer service number or it can be standing alone. When displaying this information you usually include a direct link to a private chat room where customers can speak with live people to help solve problems.

FAQ:
These are usually given their own section on your website with a direct link on the home page. By clicking on the link customers are redirected to the FAQ section where they can search for topics that match there needs.

Search:
This option is always on the top of the home page. Putting it at the top is the best way to go about it because when looking for this helpful feature that is the first place customers look. Having this feature easily accessible makes your website more user friendly.

When designing your website you want to make sure that it is user friendly for your customers, but you also want to strategically place your customer service information. A lot of companies put their customer service information in the same spot as others. This makes things easier for the customer because they can access the customer service information rather quickly, instead of having to hunt for it.
