Do you have a trustworthy website?

accountant37004113.jpgHow trustworthy is your website? When people come to it, do they find that you are trying to provide them with valid content or do they find out that they are just another number to your company and another number means more money? While you need to bring in customers for money, you have to be careful about the thin line you are walking when it comes to proper advertising to your customers. People want to see that you are trying to help them and that you aren't working on always getting their money. Is your website trustworthy and does it send this message clearly to your customers?

What makes a website trustworthy and how can you tell if your site is this way? A trustworthy website is one that doesn't have a ton of ads on it. It is a site that is filled with original content and valuable content. It is a site that people want to go to and not one that they are worried about visiting. If you have a shopping cart, you'd better make sure it is held on a secured server or you will not get people to buy from your site. People are so worried about their credit card information being stolen these days that it is next to impossible to get them to buy online.

Browse the internet and look at your favorite sites. What makes you visit these sites frequently? What it is about these sites that you love and value? What about the sites that seem fishy and ones that you really do not want to visit? You will be able to tell instantly as the site is not organized well and it is blitzed with tons of flashy banner ads and pay-per-click ads. While it is justifiable to have some ads on the site, it is not smart to have a lot of ads because it will distract from the message you want to send out and it is really going to turn off your customers.

How is the website organized and written? If it looks like the customer is reading off a brochure or a menu, they aren't going to be impressed. Think about the websites you like and the way they are organized. They often have a scroll bar with drop down menus for you to read up on what you need. They rarely look like a brochure and they aren't jumping from subject to subject. Write great content that the customers want to read and talk to them on the website. How about installing a chat feature so the customer can ask questions that might not be answered on your site? One way to see how your website reads is by having another person read it aloud to you or reading it aloud to yourself. You will be surprised to see how unorganized the site may be.

In today's world there is no excuse for typos. Every sentence that is published on your website needs to be looked over by another set of eyes. This is one of the best ways to make the information on the site accurate and professional.A customer will spot a typo right away and they aren't going to stick around on your site for long as it shows you are uneducated and unprofessional.

Tell people what you have to offer and what you do. Stop comparing your company to others in your industry and stop telling people what you don't do. Outline what is valuable about your company and stop looking at the differences of your company and your competition.
