Best Ways to backup important files

I was a school teacher, and used the computer for everything.I kept lesson plans, portfolios, class lists; pretty much everything I needed to function in my classroom. As I arrived at school one morning I noticed a small frenzy in some of the other teachers.Upon entering the office, our secretary quietly whispered, "the computer system crashed, and most, if not all of the information is gone."Anyone else out there have a computer melt down and lose tons of important data files?Well you're not alone.Indeed, in this specific instance many of my files had been lost, but because I had backup files, I was more fortunate than some of my co-workers.

Unfortunately, nothing can bring back lost data, but there are some ways to backup important files, so that this doesn't happen to you.Popular to contrary belief, you do not need to backup all of your computer data.Files you should have backup for are ones that have information related to banking or financial transactions, important projects, and digital photos. If I missed one that is important to you, then by all means, create a backup file for it.Let's look at some of the best ways to backup important files.

1. Save information onto a CD or DVD
This is the fastest and probably the easiest way to create backup files for information on your computer.DVD's can store more information than CD's so if you have a lot of information you want to backup, then use a DVD.

2. Floppy Disks
These are great for storing small files such as letters and important documents.

3. Backup software
Purchasing specific software programs can help in the backup of important files.Simply go online and find the programs with the specific software program you want. Most of the software programs have instructions on their websites for how to backup files. After you purchase the software you can install it onto your computer and feel confident that you have a place to save your important files.

4. Print and store originals
This may take a little more time and organization, but printing out important original might save you time in the end.You just need to make sure that you have a way of organizing everything you print out.

5. Instaback
There is a program out there that is called "Instaback."The concept behind PCMag.com's Instaback is to design a solution to backup important files that's easy to operate and continually working. As you save your files, Instaback automatically backs them up.Your hard drive can completely crash, and Instaback will have saved everything.Instaback also saves what you might forget to, so if you need to retrieve a lost or erased document you can.

Everyone has files that need to be protected from personal to business documents; digital photos to school work.Don't think that because it's never happened to you, it never will.Computer failure is not the only threat of losing valuable information on your computer. Many people have lost important files due to a number of natural disasters. It is always a good idea to have some or multiple backup files stored in various locations.Whether it's on a DVD or floppy disk; using a purchased software program; whatever meets your needs. It may take some time in the beginning, but its better to be safe, than sorry.
