Finding the right podcasting software

One of the most important things to podcasting is finding the right podcasting software, without it you will be unable to create podcasts for business or personal use. Here are some tips to help you in finding the right podcasting software.

Tip one:
Since podcasting is usually an audio file one of the most important type of software you are going to need is an audio recorder. There are currently numerous audio recorders available for you to buy so when looking for the right software you are going to want to make sure that the software records quality audio and that it will run with your operating system. Can you imagine spending money on audio recorder software only to bring it home and find out it won't run on your computer, or that when it records audio it plays back really distorted?

Tip two:

Now you can choose to record and make available your entire podcast or you can choose to purchase audio editing software. Since most people tend to make mistakes when recording such as an unexpected cough or your friend walks into the room in the middle of your speech you are going to want an audio editor so you can pick and choose what sections you want included in your podcast. The good news is sometimes this type of software is sometimes combined with your audio recording software, so before you purchase an audio editor check to make sure it is not included with your audio recorder.

Tip three:
Regardless of how you purchase the audio recorder and audio editor software, either all in one package or purchased separately, you will want to take note of its output format. If you are going to only use audio files you are going to want the MP3 format, while if you are going to do videos you are going to want to make sure the software has the MPEG format. The best idea is to choose software that will create these kinds of files, but if the software you choose does not create those kinds of files you can always use conversion software. If you are using conversion software be sure that the software will compress your audio or video file to a smaller more manageable size so that they are easier to upload and download.

Tip four:
Another type of software that you are going to need for podcasting is playback software. This will allow you to play back your podcast so that you can hear what the final version sounds like before you decide to publish it. Although this is complete optional utilizing this software will allow you to hear what your users will be hearing and will help ensure the quality of the finished product.

Tip five:
The only way you can find and download podcasts are through the use of RSS feeds, so you are going to want to choose software that has the ability to create RSS feeds. If your audio software does not come with RSS feeds you can still create podcasts but you will have to find your own RSS feed creator. In reality it is just easier to choose software that has this feature included.

Tip six:
One of the best ways to promote your podcasts is through iTunes, so while it is not mandatory it would be a huge bonus if the audio software you choose created valid iTunes feeds. By promoting your podcast with valid iTunes feeds you will be able to get the most exposure and potential listeners for your podcast.

Tip seven:

Once you have created your podcast you are still going to need to upload it onto your computer and in order to do that you are going to need a file transfer program. The majority of podcasting software includes this feature automatically because of how important it is to the creation of your podcast. So when you are buying your software be sure to choose one that includes this feature.

Tip eight:
Because the entire point of podcasts is for users to listen to them you are going to need to promote your podcast. You can do this in one of two ways, you can search online for the various podcasts and list your podcasts with them manually or you can choose software that allows listing in podcasting directories. Another feature that goes along with listing your podcast in the numerous directories is to find software that will allow you to alert multiple directories for updates, this will save you from having to manually having to alert each directory you are listed in.
