How do I change the size of my email display text?

You may want to change the size of the text for reading your email. This may happen for a variety of reasons. If you change to a laptop or get a smaller monitor, you may have trouble reading the smaller print. Also, if you are using your email on a projection screen while teaching a class, you may need to make it as large as possible.Additionally, you may want to shrink the text display size so you can maximize your screen space on a monitor.

Technology both in software and hardware continues to change. As technology improves you may find yourself trying to read email on smaller portable screens.Or you may find yourself with a large flat screen monitor and you may want to decrease your text size in order to maximize your screen.Whatever your situation is, you should be able to find a method or methods to create the proper resolution and text size for your computer.

You will find that you have multiple choices to change the font and size of your text in several places.Hopefully, you may need to use one or more of these methods to find a suitable solution for your needs. Not all of these places control exactly or only what you need to create the solution you want.

You will find that some solutions are temporary and can be used in seconds while other solutions can be more time consuming and will not be practical to use on a temporary basis. However, those solutions may be what you want if you are looking for a more permanent resolution to your situation.

Here are several solutions you should consider:

  1. Change the resolution of your screen. This option will change the text size in your email and all other programs. If you are running 1280x1024, change to 1024x768.This will give you bigger text and also bigger everything.Click on `Control Panel'.Click on `Display' and choose `Settings'.
  2. Another approach to getting larger or smaller text results is to change the `DPI' or `Dots Per Inch' setting of your display.Click on `Control Panel'.Click on `Display' and choose `Settings'.Once again, it will make everything appear larger on your screen. If that is what you really want, then this is a viable solution.
  3. You may try the following approach if you are trying to only affect the text of your Outlook email. In the program Outlook, click `View' menu, click `Arrange by' and then click `Custom'.You will then be allowed to pick the fonts you want for that view in Outlook.
  4. The following option will affect the actual font size used in any HTML you send. You can click on `Options'.Next click on `Mail Format' and then choose fonts. You can then choose the font size that best fits your issue.Remember that you will be sending that size also.
  5. The last solution is more temporary in nature. However, this would be a good solution if you are giving a presentation in front of a room using a projector. You might need to temporarily enlarge the text so all can read the email. You will also need a mouse with a wheel on it.While pushing the `CTRL' button, scroll your mouse wheel and the text will get larger and smaller depending on which way you scroll.

In summary, you have several options to change the text size when reading your email. Some solutions are temporary while others are more permanent. You will need to examine your issue and use one or a combination of methods in order to find your best resolution for your desired text size.
