How to know how much camera is too much

Digital cameras are everywhere, and they range from the extreme basic to the very complex.When you are shopping for a digital camera, you will want to find the camera that can perform all of the functions you are interested in, without being too over-the-top.You don't want to buy an expensive camera with a lot of functions that you will never use!Remember, the more complex and specific the camera is, the more expensive it's going to be!There are a couple of ways that you can know how much camera is too much for you!Here are a couple of tips to help you decide what type of camera you need:

1. Think about the things that you want to do with your camera:Why would you like to have a digital camera?Do you want to start a photography business?Do you want to take landscape photos?Are you interested in just taking pictures of your grandchildren's birthday parties?By pinpointing exactly what you want to do with your digital camera, you will be able to better determine the functions that you will need for your camera.For example, if you want to take a lot of motion or high-speed shots, then you will want to purchase a camera which has the ability to adjust to several different shutter speeds.If you know that you will not be taking motion shots with your camera, then the different shutter speed adjustments will probably be "too much camera" for you.
2. What will you do with your photographs?Are you planning on keeping your digital photographs on a computer or web album?Or will you be printing your photos? Will you want to print your photos to be relatively small in scale, or will you be blowing-up your photos to be large sizes?What you ultimately want to do with your photos will also determine "how much camera" you actually need.For example, resolution is a very important factor for cameras, and if you are going to print your photos on a large scale you will want to find a camera that has a very high level of resolution quality.If you are planning on leaving your photos on your computer, or even printing them at a small scale, then you do not need to be as concerned with having the highest level of resolution possible.In this case, cameras that offer extremely high levels of resolution will probably be "too much camera" for you.
3. Will you keep your photographs on your camera or computer?Another thing which can be "too much camera" for a person is the memory card storage level.If you are not planning on having extremely high resolution for your photos, or if you plan on updating your photos to your computer on a very regular basis, you might not need to get a very large storage card.Spending a lot of money on a storage card will ultimately lead you to have too much camera, and you will have wasted your money.
4. There are a lot of other features that come with different cameras, and you will need to consider if you want those for your camera.For example, do you want your camera to be remote controlled?Other types of camera features involve large LCD monitors, movie clip recording ability, editing features, self-time, sound recording, date and time specifications, viewfinders, image sensors, exposure, and editing features.If you do not need some (or any!) of these functions, then you should not waste your money in buying a more expensive camera which offers these functions!
