How to load your personal CDs onto your iPod

If you have an iPod, you're like millions of others around the world. The popular little MP3 players come in a variety of formats, from mini versions to those that hold hundreds of songs and videos.

With an iPod, you can load your songs from iTunes that you purchase through them, and you can also load your personal CDs onto your iPod as well. Part of the immense popularity of iTunes is that it's simple to use, and uploading your CD onto you iPod is no different. Doing this is simple and requires a few easy steps:

1. Insert the CD you would like on your iPod into your computer. A dialogue box will appear, prompting you to import the CD into the computer. Click "yes."
2. A progress bar at the top of the screen will let you know how much time remains before the CD is loaded onto your computer. When it is complete, the songs will now be in your iTunes library. (If you want, you can make a play list of the specific CDs you load, so they will be easier to find later.)
3. Next, connect your iPod. Plug your iPod cable into a USB port onto your computer, then connect it to your iPod.
4. Your iTunes screen and your iPod will display a message that says "do not disconnect." This is because the CD you just imported to your iTunes are being transferred to the iPod itself. Make sure you don't disconnect your iPod at this time, or the songs from your CD will not show up on the iPod.
5. Once the update is complete, you can then disconnect it and use it. It will now have all of the songs from the CD uploaded.

If you don't have iTunes but would like it, it's simple to download and use. The first thing you will need to do is download the iTunes program. This is free; all you have to do is go to the iTunes website and click Download Now. iTunes is an Apple program, but you can still use it on a PC as long as you have Windows 2000 or Windows XP.

Once you have downloaded iTunes, you have access to a number of features, including a library that allows you to organize your songs in descending or ascending order by artist, song title, the rating you give it, or the number of times it has been played. You can also purchase songs and videos from the iTunes store.

Most people with iTunes also have an iPod, which is a portable MP3 player that can hold songs, videos, and other forms of media. There are several different types of iPods, including:
- iPod Nano. This style comes in black and white with either 2GB or 4 GB of storage. It is very small and sleek.
- iPod Shuffle. The smallest version of the iPod, it contains up to 1GB of storage and shuffles the songs randomly or plays them in order.
- iPod Video. This has the largest storage capacity, with 30 or 60 GB of storage that can hold videos, photos and files, and up to 15,000 songs.

Uploading songs and CDs onto your iPod is simple and easy to do. If you have any trouble, however, you can always click on the Help tab on the iTunes screen.
