Satellite Antenna

When the first TVs were introduced into the market, there was one available channel on them. This was very exciting to all the people at that time because before then they had only the radio and TV was an entire new thing to them. After thousands of years of nothing and then a lot less years with radio, and now TV, they were amazed.

We look back on that time now and think, "Wow. One channel? That's nothing." But for them, it was huge. They could now watch things on a TV unlike they ever had been able to before. They used to be able to listen to things, but to actually see thing they had to be at the event. If they wanted to see anything even close to a TV show, they would have to go to the theater.

This is so crazy to people in this day because TV has expanded so huge. TV is just another "necessary" commodity to us. We no longer have the choice of one channel but of one-thousand channels, two-thousand channels, even up to ten-thousand channels.

No wonder it seems to odd that it all started with just one channel. The question is, how did it go from that to this? And the answer is mainlythe use of satellite antennas.

The technology for satellites and satellite antennas has exploded. Exploded meaning that it has grown huge in a matter of not too many years.

The way satellite antennas work is that they pick up signals from satellites and put those signals through to your TV and then you watch all the TV channels.

Of course, there are other things besides TV that satellites and satellite antennas are used for but TV is a major one and the easiest to explain so that is the example that is going to be used.

The satellites are not here on the earth, they are up in space floating around. The satellite antennas will receive the signals from the satellite and then transmit it to your TV. There are many different types of antenna which can be used depending on the size of things being transmitted.

The most common type of antenna is a parbolic reflector. It is what is most used for things such as TV. TV does not require a very big antenna. For businesses and such, antennas that are much bigger are sometimes used. They can get as big as tens of meters in size.

That is a pretty big antenna. It also requires a pretty big antenna in order to send signals up to the satellite because it has to be able to reflect them back to earth at the greatest quality.

TV though only needs a very small antenna and like was said earlier, the most common type if the parbolic reflector. That is a fancy name for dish.

When dish network or other satellite TV providers come to your house to set up your satellite TV, they will hook up a small dish onto your house. This is just a type of antenna. The parbolic reflector antenna. Sometimes other types are used, but the dish is the most used and most common.

Satellite TV will probably continue to grow better and better over the upcoming years. If you have a satellite antenna, you will probably get to watch it go through this growth.
