Satellite Dish Receiver

Lets pretend that you have some friends that live in . . . China. They are going to live there for a couple of years with their children while the dad is working there. So there they are in China. That is probably pretty weird and exciting at the same time.

They like it there. It is a different experience and they sure learn a lot of stuff. They learn about a different culture, they learn a new language, they eat weird food . . . they just think it is so interesting. And why would they not think it is interesting? It's China! How often do Americans live in China?

So there are your friends, living there. You are probably pretty jealous because you wish that you could have new, cool and foreign experiences like that. It would build your character.

One day you are sitting there thinking, "Wow. What should I do? There is nothing interesting to do. I just live in normal ol' America. Not China." This would probably be a normal thought if you had friends living in China.

As you are sitting and pondering this, you think, "Well, even though I do not live in China, I could still correspond with my friends and maybe they would share some cool Chinese type stories and such with me."

So you send your friends a letter. You use really cute stationary and you spend a lot of time on the letter. Like, you practically spend the entire day on it. That is how much time you spend on this letter. All day.

You send this letter and you pay more than usual for the postage and stuff because it is a heavy letter and needs more stamps in order to make it to China. But that is ok because you told your friends you were sending it and they said they would be sure to send you back just as long and exciting a reply.

Well your letter is off. And you sit waiting for it to be received. It is supposed to take a couple of weeks. In a couple of days though your friends show up on your doorstep. You are confused. They tell you that they just decided to come home early and wanted to stop by and tell you hello.

That would be strange. But more than strange, you would probably feel like you wasted an entire day writing their letter. Now it would go there and just end there. No one would be there to read it. Pretty much your letter is just pointless and you might as well not have put in the time and effort. Or spend money for postage.

You ask, what does this have to do with a satellite receiver? It has a lot to do with a satellite receiver actually.

The satellite antenna transmits the signals from the satellite to the receiver through the satellite cable. If the satellite receiver was not there, just like your friends were not in China, well then it would be a waste of the antennas time to send the signals now wouldn't it?

This shows that it is the receivers job to be at the other end and receive the signals. It then displays all the information on you TV screen and there you go. There are all you channels and options and everything. It is a good thing the receiver was at the other end to receive the information.
