More and more business owners are seeing the benefits of using technology in the running of their business. In fact that impact of using technology has been so great that for many businesses the use of it determines whether or not it will survive long term. Technology is used everywhere in the business world today. Business owners are finding that they can access information through the use of the right technology faster then ever before. This makes it imperative that every business owner learn all that he or she can about the use and role of technology in business improvement. The bottom line is that it can make the difference between your business succeeding or quietly fading away.

There are many different ways that technology can be used in the business setting. Some of these ways are-
- Computers
- High definition televisions and DVD players
- Cell phones
- Fax machines-both stationary and mobile lines
- Printers
- Digital cameras
- Handheld devices and electronic planners
One of the main advantages to all of the technology that is listed above is that most items are highly user friendly. This means with little to no training the business owner and his or her employees can begin using this type of technology, accessing the needed information, and using it to improve the business. In addition, due to the proliferation of the technology many of these items are becoming more cost effective then ever before.

The most common kind of technology that is used in businesses is by far the computer. Computers are used for a multitude of different purposes including but not limited to-
- Scheduling-Whether it is scheduling employees or meetings computers are often the time keeper behind everything that happens inside a business. Even the production process of a manufacturing business is most often scheduled on a computer. When a computer is used for scheduling certain precautions can be put into place that make sure that duplicates are not happening which saves a business both time and money.
- Management of business finances-Business owners no longer have to depend on paper and pencil to keep track of the financials of their business. Today, there are more business finance software programs then ever before. Best of all, many of them are industry specific which means that a business owner can purchase a business finance software program that specifically fits the needs of his or her business. These business finance software programs can take care of every aspect of managing business finances.
- Banking-There was a time not to long ago that business owners had to run down the street or across town to their bank when they needed to do some business banking. Today, business owners can use their computers to do a lot of their business banking online. This means that you will no longer have to waste time and money heading over to the bank. Online banking is faster and efficient. In addition, it is important that to know that businesses that utilize online banking tend to have more accurate business finance records.
- Transactions-Many customers are surprised to find out that what they thought was a register is really a computer in disguise. Today, many businesses are using computers as their registers. This allows the employee to record everything about the sale into the computer as it happens. This provides a permanent record of who the customer is, what they bought, and if they owe the business any money. Business owners can then use these records to manage their accounts receivables and send out billing directly to the customer all from the information that was input into the computer.
