Digital photography is newer, and many people are afraid of using it because they are not sure how. The following are some tips on how to make digital photography easy:

  1. Read the manual for your camera: Part of making your digital photography easy is knowing the ins and outs of your camera. So, read the manual that comes with your camera and learn how to use all of the fun features that it offers. You can read it little by little as a question comes, but make sure this manual is well worn, and make sure you read what you want to know, and if there is something you do not understand that you have someone help you know it.
  2. Do not buy a camera too complicated for your ability: there are hundreds of digital cameras on the market, and the choices for you sometimes get confusing. If you want to make digital photography easy, do not get a camera with all the bells and whistles if you do not need that. You want to get a digital camera that is right for your ability. So, if you are just wanting to point and shoot, get a basic camera. If you want to be able to do some cool things with your digital camera, such as panoramic shots, white balancing, and sequences, etc. then get a camera that does this.
  3. Buy a camera that you are familiar with: one thing that will help you make your digital photography be easy is to use a camera you are familiar with. You can become familiar with any camera on the market, but if you already know a specific brand very well, or you know someone who is proficient at a certain camera, get that camera. Having someone show you how to do things, you will find digital photography can be very easy.
  4. Choose the right software: part of digital photography is the downloading and editing of your photos. Some software programs are super simple, you can just hook your camera up and they download with a click of a button. Others are a little more complicated. Look for easy options. Also, unless you are a pro at photo editing, do not buy a really complicated program like photo shop. They make easier versions of it for basic editing. Get that one.
  5. Have the right computer: digital photography requires computers for storage, sharing etc. You can use computers at photo labs to get your pictures off your camera, but if you do it at home, that works just as well. A Mac is a better computer for digital media then a PC, but unless you are doing significant volume, a PC should be fine.
  6. Make sure you have the right connections: memory cards, flash, USB cord, etc. are all going to make your digital photography easier. You will be able to store more photos, take more, transfer and share them more easily. Look into the accessories you can get for you digital camera, and determine which would be best for you. Also, be sure to have extra batteries or a charger. If you want your digital photography to be really simple, get a rechargeable battery, a charger, and then keep two sets. One can be in the camera, and one charging at all times, that way you never run out of battery.
  7. Last but not least, to ensure your digital photography is easy, take a lot of photos, that way you never wish you had stepped to the left a little, the right a little etc. You will never be dissatisfied if you take lots of photos because you are bound to get enough good ones.
