Voom Satellite TV

Voom is a network that provides satellite TV just like DirecTV and other companies. These companies provide a big variety of TV channels for viewers to watch.

On the normal TV stations there are not that many choices to choose from. If there are you will probably find that they are very fuzzy and in order to get them clear you need to have your antennas stretched to the ceiling and maybe a little aluminum foil on the ends. This is something that was commonly seen in many home before satellite TV was introduced.

This was how TV was for many years for a lot of people. But then satellite TV came out and options became much more varied and broad. There are things from children's channels, to sports games, to sope operas, to movies, to anything that you can imagine. Literally. Probably if you can imagine it, then it exists. They even have channels that are only music, no picture, just a black screen and music.

The options are endless. But with Voom the options became a little bit more endless. Voom offered not only many channels and selections but also thirty HD channels. That was more than any other station at the time. Most stations would have a few HD channels, but voom offered so many that people were actually shocked.

Besides the HD channels, Voom also offered their own section of Cinema10 movies. It is ten channels that play wide screen movies all day long. This is something that no one else had ever done. These movies were HD as well as surround sound, taking you back into the theater. You had crisp and clear picture, with incredible sound. No wonder so many people though it would be great.

Perhaps you have noticed that this entire thing so far has been in past tense. Voom was, they had, they offered . . . that is because Voom folded.

Many people reviewed Voom satellite TV and said it was not at all what they said it was going to be. They said that the movie channels played the same movie over and over again all day long, and then again in a few days.

They also said the service was slow and that the HDTV was not very good. Many many people were disappointed. Voom did have a lot of customers, but despite the number of customers they were losing a lot of money.

They tried to find someone who would buy the company from them but no one would. Finally they just had to shut it down in 2005.

Their idea was great. They were out to offer something that no one else was offering and do something that on one else had done. But they talked big and did not come through with their big speeches they were making.

Because people couldn't trust the company to do what they said they would do they were cautious in working with them and so Voom could not get enough money to keep themselves running.

There ideas were great. Maybe someone in the future and take their ideas and make the realities. If they were realities they would go huge and be a big success. But they cannot go big if people do not trust them to follow through with what they say. They cannot go big if the people who do buy it are so unsatisfied.
