Usually there will be a ball park figure that all of them have in common. But if you find one that is a lot more expensive or a lot cheaper then the rest you may want to look into why they are charging what they are. You will also want to make sure that you ask for references. I would call more then one of their references so that you can get a variety of feed back. If the computer technician doesn't want to give out any references that should be a red flag that there is something wrong and they are hiding something. You will want to stay away from some one like this.

The third tip is to fix it yourself. If you know about computers and think that it is something that can be an easy fix you maybe able to fix it with little extra cost. If you decide to fix it yourself you will want to make sure that you know what the problem is before you just start guessing.
