What you should know about web 2.0 technology

What you should know about web 2.0 technologies, and why it works. Web 2.0 is known as the people web. Simply put, Web 2.0 is the second generation of the web based communities and hosted services. This includes sites like social networking sites, and other sites This is to help with the sharing and collaborating of information between people, companies and much more.

The development of Web 2.0 is not necessarily a new Internet, however it is in reference to the new web platform that the developers have created. The term Web 2.0 comes from Tim O'reilly, and was then became a common term in the conference for Web 2.0 in 2004.

Keep in mind that even though the name insinuates an entirely new creation, many of the technology and options we use today have been around much earlier than this new edition. The main thing is that there has been a significant change in many of the areas of the Internet and how we use it today.

This includes the use of tagging, social book marking, wikis, podcasts, RSS feeds, weblogs, social software, Web standards, and Web API's. There are also many other changes that have open up wit how we look at the WWW or World Wide Web today.

These changes and growths have increased the economic value of the web. With all of this there is whispers of these growth passing the .com era of the 90s.

The web sites we now use are no longer isolated to information silos and offer a great deal of access, content functionality, which then has turned the internet into the open freeway of information it has become.

There are two main functions of Web 2.0 that surpasses the previous version of the Internet. These functions are that you can run the software functions used on the web, instead of on the computer itself. The second functioning factor that we are looking at is the amount of participation that is included with the use of Web 2.0. It is not just looking at the information on the Internet. But, it is also being involved with what is happening out there.

Easier access, usability, and simple structures have opened the door for even the most novice users to be able to work and play on the Internet. Web 2.0 has offered an opening to access of data from a variety of sources that make it easier to find the information we are looking for.

With this newer technology in the Web it also opened a door for web sites to join together in mash ups such as housing maps. The way a mash up works is the context on different sites can be remixed in a more informal environment.

The social aspects of Web 2.0 has also started to included, tagging for easy access, wikis and of course blogging. There is nothing more interesting than the ability to be a part of what you are learning and doing. This is what Web 2.0 is all about.

For both business, and personal life, Web 2.0 has made it possible to conveniently run your work of WWW from your computer, with limited training, and the same old tools.

With the current set up there have now been newer openings for greater technology and input from even the little guy. This in itself gives us a more diversified environment. This is only part of what you should know about Web 2.0 but at least it will get you started on your adventures.
