Marketing is a vital component for any business. If any business fails with their marketing, they could be dooming their company, to an early end. Often, business owners are finding that they are spending a lot of time marketing their product, but they are still not raising as much revenue as they would like. The problem generally like within the type of marketing that is being done. It is crucial that you understand what your target customers is looking for, and then structure your marketing to let them know that you have the product or service they need or want. If your marketing is not doing this, this is probably why you are not reaching the level of sales that you want to. Keep in mind that today's consumer needs to be persuaded to buy. Your target customer will not buy on price alone. You must let your customer know how your product can benefit them, so they will have a reason to buy it. If you are having difficulty selling your product, here are some marketing mistakes you could be making-

  • Customers don't know about your product-The bottom line is that if no one knows about your product, then they are not going to buy it. You may still be marketing it, but if you are not reaching your target customer (the person who is most likely to buy your product), then your marketing is not working. You should ask yourself if you are trying to reach the correct target market and is your message communicating what you want to say about your product or services. Finally, it is crucial to remember that the answer to the problem is not just more marketing, but the right type of marketing.
  • Customers do not understand what your product can offer them-Too many business owners feel that if there product is the lowest in the market, then it will automatically sell. While this doesn't meant that price is not a factor, it is crucial tor realize that price is not the only factor. Few customers buy something just because of the price. If your marketing is not communicating the benefits of your product or service, your customer has a lot of other options to choose from (including not buying anything). Your customer must be educated as to why it would be to their benefit to buy your product or service. If your customer does not see the value of buying your product or service, there is little chance to increase the sales of it.If your marketing isn't doing this it's not being effective. A good way to start is to put together a list of the top 2-3 benefits of your product and then use them in your next marketing strategy.
  • Customers can't find your product-The bottom line is that customers are going to buy what is easiest to find. Even if they hear about your product, and understand its benefits, if they can't find it, you won't get sales. You should also keep in mind that today's customer is has many demands on his or her time. Therefore your product must be easy to obtain. Part of your marketing strategy may be to re-evaluate where your product can be found. You should determine if you need to make your product or service more accessible to your customers. You may need to distribute your product differently or put it in different locations. You may need to offer your products or services online, in order for more customers to buy. Evaluating the accessibility of your products and services is an integral part of your overall marketing plan.
