Creating A Wellness Program At Work

Going to work should be a good thing. For those who dread taking that daily drive, a proper balance of life may be needed.Better health habits can bring joy in living and a newfound desire to be proactive. Bring a good wellness program to your company employees with these steps.

Create Interesting Props
Hold a wellness seminar for groups of employees. Keep it small enough for questions and for a one-on-one vibe where ideas may be shared. Go through the company health benefits package and the different types of therapies offered, as well as sick days. Make sure to print out big posters of wellness topics. Visual aids can spark conversation and grab attention. What might otherwise be perceived as another dull meeting can come to life with a brochure and colorful, picture-plastered posters.
Sick Days
Sick days should be part of the benefits package. Paid sick days allow and encourage those who are ill to stay home and prevent the spread of illness. The less that illness runs through the workplace, the more income the company brings in. Good health also promotes high morale and a friendly environment. Let people know that, as simple as it seems, it is okay to put off projects to heal up. Calling in for help on important deadlines is better than ignoring them or suffering through it.
Putting The Right Foods In The Body
Promote a balanced diet. Teach about what a typical meal should look like. According to nutrition specialists, half of each meal should consist of greens, vegetables and fruits. One quarter should be a protein, like beans, for maintaining energy. The last quarter of each meal should be grains, like pasta or bread. A balanced diet helps keep you happy and may be linked to preventing depressive symptoms.
Teeth Health
Taking greater care of the mouth can prevent visits to the dentist. Teach about teeth health. Teach the following steps, which can prevent gingivitis and tooth decay:
1. Brush your teeth at least twice each day, preferably with a fluoride-containing paste.
2. Floss and use mouth wash and other inter-dental treatment for the cracks where pieces of food stick. The amount of material that brushing does not get is astounding.
3. Brush after ingesting sticky or acidic foods, like lemonade.
4. Drink at least one liter of fluoride-infused water each day. This fortifies the teeth.
5. Go to the dentist for regular checkups to clean teeth, stop, and prevent cavities.
6. Try not to snack. When one snacks, they usually do not brush afterward
7. Refrain from carbohydrates that break down quickly into harmful sugars
Seek Help With Administering New Policies
It may be helpful to hold a separate meeting for managers only. Get the opinions and feedback of those who know the office environment. Assign leaders the task of looking out for employee health. Managers need to recognize when someone is noticeably ill for the correct steps to take place. Those that are ill should be reminded of the sick day policy and be encouraged to use it. This may seem harsh, but the health of all employees is important.
Implement The Program
Begin by setting up hand sanitizing stations. Also post reminders in restrooms and in kitchens and break rooms to wash hands. Disease can often be stopped by this simple practice. Most germs will wash away. When food is served in meetings, encourage that it be individually wrapped. This will result in less touching and thus less bacterial spread.
Transform the environment of your workplace into a health zone. You and employees feel more comfortable when all are healthy and are practicing clean habits. Teach important tools to maintaining wellness and reap the benefits of healthier, happier employees.
