What does your website look like? Do your customers find that it is easy to navigate? Is it easy for them to find the products that they want right away? How hard is it for them to purchase the products and to have the delivered? There are so many different aspects to what makes a website effective and you need to be able to focus your efforts on doing all that you can in order to generate the traffic you need to get higher sales. One of the things that you need to work on with your website is the way in which you are serving your customers. Customer service doesn't stop when you aren't on the phone or when you aren't talking face to face with your customers; it is an ongoing thing that you need to work on. From the content on your site to the way in which the pictures are uploaded to help describe your products, you have a lot of little details that need to be covered with online customer service.

To create better online customer service you need to put yourself in the shoes of your customers. What do they want and expect from you? What are some of the things that you can do in order to meet their needs? You need to be able to really look at what you expect as a customer when you sign up for things like a weekly newsletter or even when you sign up for a webinar.

Timeliness is everything when it comes to customer service. You need to be able to really focus your efforts on getting back to your customers quickly when they place an order or when they sign up for a service. If you do not act quickly, it will cause them to look elsewhere for service and you will lose their business. Consider sending an email notification to them for things such as when they do sign up for newsletter or when they place an order. If you keep them updated and offer them real-time information it will make the entire exchange with them worthwhile.

Include a search tool on your website or at least a website map. This will aid in helping the customers to find all of the information that they are looking for. Since the website is always up and running, you have to really work on giving the customers information that they need and want all the time. The website has to provide them with the service that they need since you will not be able to help as you cannot pick up the phone. The customers need to have all these tools ready and available for them in order to find answers to their questions. Videos can be quite helpful if you have a website that is focused on providing content information to customers.

To help in giving your customers quality online service you should also use things like a virtual assistant and possibly considering auto responders and schedulers to deliver messages to your customers. You also need to use some tabs that make it easy for your customers to get around your site. Answering services are also quite popular with many websites as are the FAQ pages.

The goal with online customer service is to answer the question now or to get back to the customers as soon as possible. Depending upon the type of business you are running, you may want to consider answering your emails remotely so your customers do not need to wait more than 24 hours for an answer. Timeliness is everything if you want to convert a lead into a sale!
