Why Isn't Your Site Getting Ranked?

Do you have a hard time getting traffic to your website? What is happening with the marketing that you are using and what type of people are coming to your site? Google has a very detailed ranking system and in many cases, it is hard to understand since it changes so often. A long time ago, having a lot of random links into your site helped you to have a higher ranking. Now, Google sees this as spam and they want to have quality links come to your site to give you the right type of traffic. It's a difficult thing to figure out but you can do it with the right type of practice and the right type of marketing tools to help you.

Website Friendliness
How friendly is your website to your customers and to the search engines? Some marketers make the mistake of writing to the search engines and this doesn't do much for traffic since the customers cannot gain anything beneficial from the site. You have to really work on creating a website that is friendly for everyone so your customers are able to understand it and the search engines get the information that they want as well. Certain things are commonly seen on a website that is considered friendly:
- Appropriate use of keywords. This will usually average around 1-3 for every 100-200 words that are used. You don't want to add too many keywords to website, it just gets confusing and it doesn't make any sense in the end.
- Correct content to match the title tags. Have you ever clicked on a link and then headed to a page that didn't pertain to that information? This is another thing that Google is correcting as they are hoping to help people get to the right websites based on the search terms they use. They will not give you a higher ranking if the content doesn't match your title tag.
- Quality links. Google also wants to see that you have links that pertain to the business and that you are not sending people to spam sites. You need to focus on quality links that help to build up the company, not hurt it. Consider the links to the content so it is actually relevant to the customers.
- Content. You must add quality information to your site to get it ranked higher by Google. Google is looking at the search terms and phrases of the customers and they are working to really link them to relevant sources. You need to focus your time on making the content you create for the customers of higher quality and to be sure that people actually spend time on your site, not just to link in and back out again.

Google Places
The internet is filled with many random areas of information. You need to make sure your website is friendly but that it is linked to the right sources. Use Google Places to help you make a name for your website. Google Places is free to use and it allows you to profile your company. This helps the search engine to know that your site is legitimate and they have an easier time sending links in your direction based on the Google Place page.

Get People Talking
Google will also provide you with a higher rank if you can get customers to talk about your company. You need to use other sites for people to leave comments and feedback. Getting people to talk about the company in other places really does boost the online image and appeal that your company can have.
