Using a telephone recorder for phone tapping

The following is a look at using a telephone recorder for phone tapping:

Why would you want to tap someone's phones?

There are many reasons you may want to tap someone's phones, or your own. For example, you may want to tap the phones in your office to discover who is sharing trade secrets, or you may want to tap the phones in your home in order to discover if your teenage daughter is dating the college drop out bar tender you saw her with, or maybe you are tapping your phone for more in depth spy purposes. The fact of the matter is there are thousands of reasons to tap a phone, and if done properly, the results can be great. You can set your mind at ease that your spouse is not cheating, or that your business partner is clean, or that your children are not sneaking out at night and meeting people. Or, you will find out those things are happening, and you can use the knowledge to do something about it.

What kind of recorder you would need?

If you are going to tap someone's phones a cassette tape phone recorder is not always the best choice, especially if it means you have to go back to the site to collect the tapes. A digital version is a better option, preferably something that allows you to plug the recorder into a phone jack and automatically set it up to record all calls and download the conversations as files onto your PC. However, if you are just going to record calls in your own home, a cassette tape recorder could do the trick. No matter what kind of recorder you choose, make sure it fits your needs, and is not over-priced.

Tips and tricks for phone tapping:

  • One of the biggest tips is to choose a phone recorder that is not going to be detected. Look for phone call recorders that guarantee no clicks, beeps, or noises that would give the recorder away. If every time someone picks up their phone they hear a click, they will probably figure out that their phone is tapped.
  • Look for a phone call recorder that is easy to install. Easy installation is going to make using it more viable, and more likely. If you have to have a degree in engineering to know how to set it up, it is not likely a good phone tapping device.
  • Look for a phone tapping device that can easily be set up in any room of the house and record all conversations that take place on the line. This will allow you to set up the recorder in a bedroom or office, but record calls going on in kitchens, teen bedrooms, etc.
  • Look for a phone recorder that allows automatic phone tapping settings, and adapters so that they can be used on home phones, office phones, cell phones, etc. The more versatility the more use you will get.
  • Look for a phone call recorder that allows you to convert the files easily with the software provided so that they are usable and easy to transfer. If you have to buy expensive and difficult to use software to get the recordings into usable files, you probably will never use the product. So, look for something that either already records in usable formats such as MP3 or that has easy to use conversion software.
  • Choose a telephone recorder that is small and inconspicuous. Phone tapping on television usually involves dime size recording devices, but as a normal citizen, those are not an affordable option, but that does not mean you have to choose equipment that is outdated and gigantic.
  • Look for a phone recording system that proves to have high quality sound recording. The quality of the recording is essential as you do not want a recording full of static.
