• Start looking early or last minute! This is one thing that could help you out a lot. You have to start looking early for tickets because sometimes if you have enough advance you can get a good deal. It is like an early bird special. Also, if you try to find tickets the night before, chances are good that they may be very expensive as the airlines know they can jack up the price, and if you have to have that flight you will pay it. However, it is always safer to plan ahead and start looking early.

If you start looking early it will allow you to look at all the available options and consider all the best prices. It will allow you to compare the different deals you see and choose the one that would work best for you and your budget.

• Do not settle too much on a specific date. Be flexible in the time that you choose to travel. Maybe you are hoping to leave on a Saturday but the tickets for Friday are a little cheaper. If you are flexible it should not matter to you too much whether you leave on the Saturday or the Friday. It would save you money if you were flexible and did not have to travel on a specific day.

If your plans are too rigid, it could cost you more money than if you were flexible and could go on any day. It is usually cheaper to travel on weekdays such as Tuesday and Wednesday, so if possible, try to make your plans around these days.

• Look to see if there are any secondary airports where you could land. Some places will have smaller airports outside of town and the tickets to get to these airports are cheaper than the tickets to get to the main airports.
• Look for smaller airlines to travel on. Tickets for smaller airlines are cheaper than tickets for major airlines. Smaller airlines usually are specific in the areas they travel to. You have to look to see if there is a smaller airline where you are going. If there is, then you should travel on it instead of on the major airline.
