How do I change my MSN password

Passwords are a way to allow only the person who is supposed to see information to be the only one to have access to it. A person's MSN password is no different. It allows people to have access to their email, MSN messenger, etc. There are a variety of safety rules when it comes to passwords such as having them be long, with capital letters and numbers, and by having them be different with each account that a person has. Passwords are very important.

Reasons you may need to change the password

One reason that people may need to change their password is because they have forgotten it. People have passwords for a lot of things. They can have passwords for their blog, to log into their computer, for their email, to log into MSN messenger, and the list goes on and on. With so many different passwords to remember, some of them being long with numbers and capital letters it can be very hard to remember a password, or even which password goes with which log it.

Another reason that someone may need or want to change their password is because someone knows their MSN password. Maybe it was fine for the person to know the password for a specific reason or purpose originally, but now that reason no longer applies and the person should not be able to have access to the MSN password anymore.

A good way for a person to keep their information in their MSN account safe is by changing their passwords somewhat frequently. About every three months is a good rule of thumb for changing a password.

How to change MSN password from MSN Microsoft Passport

For a person to change their MSN password they will need to change their Microsoft Passport password. By doing this their MSN password, MSN messenger password, and hotmail password will be changed. After arriving at the "Microsoft Passport" page the person trying to change their MSN password should go to the "Account Services" home page of the "Microsoft Passport Network." Here, at the Account Services home page, they should select the "Credentials" menu option and then click on "Change your password." Here the person just needs to enter their old MSN password, and then enter their new MSN password. After entering the new MSN password once it will ask for it one more time then the person changing their password should press "Continue." Entering and alternative email address is a good idea. It will ask for it to be entered twice. Then they should click on "Continue" and then "Done."

How to change MSN password from MSN Hotmail

To change their password from their MSN Hotmail a person must be able to log in. If they cannot log in to their MSN Hotmail they will not be able to change their password. If they are able to log in to MSN Hotmail the person will be able to change their password. After logging in to MSN Hotmail there is a link that is labeled "Options" in the upper right hand corner of the page. They should click on the "Options" link. On the page that comes up there will be a link with the word "Password" a little way down. The person should click on the link. After pressing the "Password" link Hotmail may ask the person to log in again, just to prove that they are the actual account holder and know the old password. As soon as the correct old password is entered they should click on the "Sign In" button. This button will take them to the page that will allow them to change their password. The person will need to enter in the old password and then the new password. On this page, MSN will rate the strength of the new password that is being created. This will help the person know if the password will be adequate at protecting their privacy. Then they will be asked to retype the new password. People can choose if they would like their password to expire every 72 days to help remind them to change their password often. That's it.
