Today, it seems like everyone has a cell phone, but this has led to an overabundance of choices, when you go to get one. Many cell phone users (whether new or experienced) report that they are simply overwhelmed with the number of choices, when it comes to cell phones. However, if take the time to do some research and make a plan before you head out shopping, it can help make the shopping experience, a lot more effective and even fun. Here is what you need to know about how to choose the right cell phone for you-

  • Begin with the plan-This is really the heart of how you will be using your cell phone, so make sure that you know the best plan, for you. Most people prefer to have a plan that is monthly, with a set number of minutes. Your biggest decision here is to know how many minutes that you will be using. This is generally considered the most affordable way to have a cell phone.
  • Do the research-Once you know what plan you are going to be using, its time to start looking at cell phones. This is the time to go through search engines, read reviews and even ask family and friends, for recommendations. However, knowing what your family and friends, like or don't like about their cell phones can guide you, but you should not let it be a determining factor, in what phone you decide to purchase. You want to try and come up with a list that has the features that are most important to you and are the ones that you will use the most. You should also keep in mind that for any phones you are interested in, you will want to know the price, location for purchase, all available features, warranty and the availability of the phone.
  • Consider the style-While there are still people who only want a phone just to make and take calls, the style of your phone is still important. There is a number of styles including: flip, bar and slider styles. Each kind of phone will have a different keypad. You want to make sure that whatever phone you end up using, will be the one that you are the most comfortable with. You may want to check out some of your selections, by holding them in your hand, before making a purchasing decision.
  • Decide who smart your phone should be-Today the major division when it comes to cell phones, is smart phones and regular phones. A smart phone will be able to browse the internet, send and receive email and a wide variety of other computer related tasks. However, it is important to keep in mind that if you choose a smart phone, you will definitely end up paying more, so you need to be sure that a smart phone is something you will use.
  • Should it have a camera-Today, cameras are much more common in even low end smart phones. This has become the easiest way to merge the two technologies. However, you should understand that if you are going to be using your cell phone camera, for anything other then snapping some spontaneous pictures, then you should be thinking about mega pixels. Most cameras that are in cell phones have fairly low pixels, which means that you won't get the highest quality of pictures. If you want to use your cell phone as your main camera, then you may want to consider purchasing one with more pixels. This will allow you to take a higher quality of picture. However, you should keep in mind that this is a feature that you will pay more for.
