Speeding Up A Slow Computer

A slow computer is the bane of modern man and woman's life experiences in the 21st century; speeding up a slow computer can help everyone live a more fulfilling virtual life while at the same time increasing the opportunity for both productivity and viewing funny cat videos. There are several things that anyone can do to help improve the performance and speed of a slow computer.None of them are to take it to the car and drive down the highway at 75 miles per hour.Instead, things like appropriate virus protection, defragmentation and a virtual computer cleanup will help make a computer faster.
Viruses, Trojan horses, malware and adware can all adversely affect the speed of a computer.By installing the best virus protection, computer users can help maintain and even increase the speed of their computers.Virus protection can not only help prevent infection and warn of web sites that may be responsible for harmful downloads, but it can also help remove viruses from an infected computer.Weekly scans should be the minimum, but if a computer seems to be slow, they can be done more often.

Defragmentation is available for every computer. For Windows users, it is easy to find by typing "defrag" into the search bar that is located when the person clicks on the windows logo.Defragmentation helps organize the hard drive by moving like files together. This helps to sped up the hard drive's functions as files become quicker to find.Defragmentation does take time to run, but it is well worth running at least once a month or when the computer feels slow.

After six months of use, a computer is likely to have picked up downloads that are no longer relevant to the user. These downloads can be uninstalled freeing up memory for the computer to use for other applications. In order to remove programs, it is important not to just delete the shortcut or the program itself, but to use the uninstall function. Many programs contain more than just one file that is associated with the name of the program, so the uninstall gets rid of all of the associated programs.
To find the uninstall option, the user should go to the control panel on Windows PC and find the Programs menu.A list of programs available to uninstall will be available.Choose the uninstall option and away they go.

Computers that are running slow in the net may need to have a couple of other maintenance things done to them.Going to the tools function and deleting the history, cookies, the cache and other browsing data can improve the internet browsing experience. It is good to delete these things, not only for performance but also for security reasons.

Deleting the history gets rid of all information about which sites have been visited on that particular computer. While Google Chrome now has an incognito function that does the same thing, the incognito function does not allow the computer to remember passwords and such beyond one internet session.Clearing out the cache, cookies and other browsing data gets rid of all of the saved data like passwords, so it means remembering the passwords for your email and such, but it also helps eliminate any adware or any tracking that may have been installed by a previously visited site.

A faster computer makes life easier for everyone. The user has a better experience, and those around him or her get to avoid hearing complaints about how slow the computer or internet are.Taking the time to do a couple of things to improve the sped of the computer is a great idea.
