What Is Cloud Computing?

Cloud computing is something that's going to make mobile technology as well as traditional desktop and laptop PCs a lot more integrated. Cloud computing or a Cloud drive is something where you store your information in a remote drive somewhere, and access it through the internet. The implications of cloud computing is that you can access your information through a wireless phone, through a tablet PC, through a laptop PC, through a desktop PC, and basically any other device that connect through the internet at any time and sometimes at the same time. This allows you to watch movies or videos on your phone or any of your electronic devices, or view documents and edit them from the various electronic devices or in some cases, work on projects in the same way Google Docs works. It means that you can work with a number of people over the internet on the same document, meaning that instead of each creating their own and then someone piecing it all together, you can have everyone working on the same document at the same time.

It's important to know that Cloud storage isn't entirely free, and while services like Google Drive offer about 5GB for free, if you're thinking about using Cloud storage for your main storage, or if you're thinking about putting a lot of data and files into your cloud storage, you're either going to have to pay a monthly fee to access it, or if you're a little bit more tech savvy, and you have a good enough internet connection, you can create your own cloud storage. All you need is a hard drive with however much data you want to store, and then connect it to your network. This means that you only have to pay a flat fee, and with the monthly fee of your internet you can have access to this great technology. If you're worried about your internet being a little bit slow, or if it often goes down, it might just be a better idea for you to go with a monthly cloud storage service fee and not have to worry about updating or upgrading your internet.

And you wouldn't believe it when I said that most of us are already working in the cloud. Gmail and Google docs are probably the most popular cloud services out there today. With both you have about 10GB of storage data that you can access from any computer across the world. The Xbox 360 already has cloud services integrated in it, giving you access to about 1gb of cloud storage so that you can use that storage on any Xbox, without having to buy a memory card to take with you. Cloud computing doesn't necessarily mean that it is your own personal storage that you are using, but it can hold your address books, music, and information that would be useful for you to keep on the go at any time, but you can also have stuff you can share with your whole family, like have a cloud storage hold all of your families addresses and birthdays, and other important events. You could also share documents and music with your friends and family and share any file you could ever think about sharing with your whole family. Instead of having to send emails with picture attachments to several of your friends and family after a big event, you can simply put them on the cloud and have anyone access it. You can allow your family picture editor to edit all of the pictures, still on the cloud without him or her having to resend the pictures through the internet to the whole family, again.

Cloud computing will definitely create more integration between personal devices, and with your whole family, so it's a good idea to look into, as a small data storage would be free to use.
