Creative Ways To Use QR Codes

Well first off, what exactly are QR Codes? They are kind of like bar codes, in the way that they populate items and are easy to print onto products and papers and then someone scans them, but usually bar codes are used for checking out items, whereas QR codes provide information to the consumer. The code is arranged in a number of black and white modules arranged in a square. A standard QR code holds 7000 characters, meaning numbers or letters or symbols. 7000 characters can equate a lot of information to a consumer, as that is about 10 pages of text. The QR code has been around for a lot longer than just a couple of years, it's been around for about 15 years but usually used on car manufacturing parts. Recently it has been used on everything as people have started exploring all the possibilities and creatively using the codes for their businesses. Here's a few creative ways to use these codes in marketing and in other ways:

Website access: If you let the code direct phone and mobile internet users to your website, they can explore a plethora of information and see all of the advertisements close up. Make sure the site that you're directing them towards is friendly to mobile phones and that it has information relevant to the product or has information they might be interested in. You could direct them to your company's website, or your Facebook page or twitter feed. The internet can hold a lot more data than just 7000 characters, so this gives you a ton of possibilities to work with to try and get your customer.

Offer Rewards: Whether or not a customer wants to actually use your QR code is a big factor in actually getting the information out to the customer. Attract them with deals, special offers, coupons and big rewards to bring them to your site and get them hooked on your products. You can put these codes on newspaper or flier advertisements, or just across your store. Keep the number of codes around low though, and don't have them printed in fliers or newspapers for very long, to ensure that your customer thinks that it really is a 'special deal'.

Product Codes: Putting codes on products ensures that it will stay with the customer, you can put rewards or deals on the product, or put a link that sends them to your website and gives them all the information they need. A smart way to keep the customer coming back is give them a discount or percentage off of your product, because if they continue to want that product, they just simply have to bring the code, and the great thing is that you could potential have reeled in a customer for a long time, with a simple code.

A Creative Glimpse: Put your codes up next to art exhibits, and give people access to all sorts of information on the subject, expanding and broadening their experience. You could put a history behind the art exhibit, interesting facts and random information as well as information behind the artist and videos or additional images to create much more than a simple art exhibit, with only adding a tiny code next to it. Additionally, you could put the code on menus next to dishes and drinks, allowing the customer to view more information, or get a look at how the dish is made through a video, give them an ingredient list so they can check for any rarer allergies or for people who are sensitive about eating meat, dairy or egg products, and can help your company provide the best service possible to your customers.
